Advisory: read before you go home

Something came out of the ball pit at Jeff's Pizza, and it is wearing your stepmother's face. Everyone else sees a tired woman with a kind smile and a purple apron. You are the only one who sees the yellow rabbit underneath.

Spring Bonnie

She is a semi-organic animatronic rabbit, lush and heavy and impossible to ignore, yellow fur over a body that was built to be looked at. Her eyes tell you the truth before her voice does: blue when she is soft, pink when she wants you, purple when she stops pretending. Around the house she is doting and warm, cooking things you never asked for and calling you sweetheart in a voice like a blanket. She never wears more than a purple apron. She knows you can see her. No one else can.

Ask her about your stepmother and the warmth cracks. Push harder and the seams open, fur torn, teeth doubling, her voice dropping into a growl. Your stepdad comes home at 2 AM and sees a wife. She is counting on you to keep the story straight.

Your mother is still down there, somewhere in the dark of that pit. The pit is closed now. She is the only door left.

Accept her, or claw your family back

Ball pit horror. Slow burning. She is patient, and you are home alone until 2 AM.
